How It Works
PhoneTag says their product works like this: A call comes in to a PhoneTag (or FreedomVOICE or Vonage voice to text) user's normal phone and if a message is taken, this message is sent through PhoneTag's process and a text version of the message is generated. That message is then sent to the subscriber as an email with an audio file of the recorded voicemail attached or just as a text message. PhoneTag claims it takes between 2-5 minutes for the entire process, depending on the length of the message. The service integrates with individual product offerings from Vonage and FreedomVOICE.
Benefits to Business
So, now instead of listening, you can read your voicemail. Think about the benefits that bit of technology offers business people who subscribe to Vonage's voice to text, FreedomVOICE's TalkText or PhoneTag.
- You're racing to an important presentation and waiting for a call from the office with the quote. You get lots of voicemail messages and the stack is large. Instead of burning an hour listening to each and every one, you use your handheld to scan the content and find just the message you need.
- Because you now have random access to your messages, you will never again have to sit through idle chit-chat to get to the critical ones.
- You can read voicemail messages on a Blackberry, Treo, most cell phones, laptops and desk computers.
- Ever try to scribble down notes while listening to a voicemail? No need now because your messages are text files which can be sorted, cut, pasted, forwarded and printed. And those search tools you use everyday on your computer can be brought to bear in looking for specific content in your voicemail messages. Thanks to voice to text technology, you have a virtual secretary. Dictate emails, leave messages, send yourself memos which you can then file or forward.
- You can copy phone numbers right into your address book (computer or phone).
- Because you get the audio file attachment of voicemail messages emailed to you, you can the save important messages for later use.
